Hello [firstname] and welcome to the
last
edition
of Instant Calm for 2008. It has been quite a year!
This month "N" is for
"Nostalgia" or "life
was much better in the past i.e. before the credit crunch!"
|
We could be
forgiven for thinking that we are living in difficult times with the credit
crunch constantly in the news and fears for personal and global safety on
the increase.
We can let the media dominate our lives and depress us with
doom and gloom or we can choose to think differently. It is up to us. We can
be sucked into the on-going drama of the 10 o’clock news or we can
decide to watch less news and focus on all the good things in our lives. My
life has become much less stressful since I stopped watching all the news
bulletins. I now watch to be informed but not overwhelmed.
Christmas is a very special time
of year when we do make the effort to be nice to people; to remember that we
are all doing our best.
Being kind doesn’t have to cost us
anything other than a smile. So, if we are feeling the pinch this year we
can decide to make a difference in small ways. If we are honest most of us
don’t need any of the gifts we will be given at Christmas do we? Nor
do the people we are buying for.
Compared to so many other places, we live in a truly
prosperous country even in these difficult times, and most of us have more
than enough. So let us buy presents for the children in our lives and make a
pact with the grown ups to buy token presents or this year not give gifts at
all. |

CDs can
really help as well and are a cost effective way of
learning. There are several available both in shops and
online, including my Beginner’s Guide to Meditation
"Mary has been an absolute Godsend at a
particularly difficult time for me personally. In particular, the
Beginners’ Course in Meditation was fantastic and gave me the tools to
deal with everyday stresses. As an events organiser this has been very
useful!" - Claire Stokes, Business Link

Food for thought –
an article by Sandra Clarke
A new way to look at health and
nutrition
Nutritional advice has generally been based on the premise that
the particular nutrient we are deficient in is the one that needs to be
supplemented. Recent research indicates that oxidative stress is the cause
for nutritional deficiency. Oxidative stress is caused by free radicals in
our bodies which damage our cells resulting in degenerative disease. Free
radicals are produced by external influences on our bodies and is the result
of our cells being damaged by free radicals, causing a weakened immune
system.

Financial Planning: This month's
tip
 |
Dan was a single guy living at home with his
father and working in the family business. When he found out he was going to
inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife
with whom to share his fortune.
One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most
beautiful woman he had ever seen. |
Her natural beauty took his breath away. 'I may look like just
an ordinary man,' he said to her, but in just a few years, my father will
die, and I'll inherit £200 million.'
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days
later, she became his stepmother.
Women are so much better at financial planning than men.
Thank you
for your support this year. I wish you
happiness and good fortune in 2009
Have a wonderful
Christmas and a very Happy New Year
– see you in January! |
